Last week I was invited to join a group of dietitians and therapists who meet regularly to address topics regarding issues relating to diet, body image, disordered eating behaviors and general nutrition. While introducing ourselves, I was asked what exactly an Eating Psychology Coach does. After my brief explanation, I realized I should offer the same to you.
What follows are concerns many of you have expressed and 5 good reasons to call me for a consultation.
You’re in a health rut. You are feeling confused about what to eat, when to eat. You are unsure about which supplements are most beneficial or simply a waste of time and money. You’re frustrated with your efforts to lose weight, worn down by negative thoughts about your body. You feel challenged by a lifetime of eating habits that take you further away from your weight and health goal. You eat well but still struggle with bloating and digestive issues.
If you relate to even one of these questions, know that any of my coaching programs offers solutions and strategies to help you transform the most common and compelling eating challenges of our time, such as weight, body image, digestive disorders, overeating, binge eating, chronic dieting, emotional eating and more.
But why choose an Eating Psychology Coach when there are all kinds of coaches and practitioners available to help these days?
- You have stubborn eating challenges that you’ve tried to change, with no success.
Eating Psychology Coaches are the only health coaches in the world with specific training, tools and skills in the psychology of eating. We understand how to get to the bottom of unresolved eating challenges, once and for all.
I will help you view those difficult eating habits as a symptom of bigger struggles and a doorway into a deeper relationship with yourself. You’ll recognize that “what” you eat is only half the story when it comes to good nutrition and improving your health. “Why” you eat provides a window into your soul and deepest desires.
- You have a “gut” feeling that there is something deeper to your relationship with food and your body.
Eating Psychology Coaches honor your “gut” feeling – your intuition – and we want you to do the same.
Did you know that there is actually a brain in your gut? It’s called the Enteric Nervous System and if you’ve ever had a “sense” that something is not right or there’s something more to the story – that’s your Enteric Nervous System talking. So make sure to listen.
With me as a guide, I’ll help you to respect your body wisdom – that second brain in the belly – by teaching you that it’s a strength and sending useful information. If you’re someone who has a “gut” feeling that there’s something deeper to your relationship with food and your body, chances are you’re right. This would be a good time to schedule a consultation
Together we will delve deeper into your thoughts, feelings and stories about your life to understand what might be driving your behavior when it comes to food and your body. I will teach you how to listen closely to your body to best nourish and feed yourself. You’re the expert regarding you. You will rely on that expertise to empower your health and your metabolism.
- You’re tired of the same old approach to weight loss and interested in a new dialogue regarding health, wellness and weight.
If you’re looking for new tools or a new conversation regarding weight, body and food then working with an Eating Psychology Coach is the way to go. We are on the cutting edge when it comes to a new conversation about weight loss.
I understand both professionally and through my own experience that the current approach to weight management– which includes chronic dieting, calorie counting and extreme exercise – is broken. If it were as easy as “eating less and exercising more” we wouldn’t be faced with the obesity epidemic currently plaguing our nation.
Making peace with food, loving our bodies and showing compassion toward ourselves requires a new approach. Eating Psychology Coaches have stepped up as leaders in this new conversation.
- You’re interested in improving your relationship with food, body and self.
Perhaps you understand that a lifetime of struggle cannot change in an instant, or overnight. Instead you’re interested in deepening your relationship with food, your body and yourself.
Eating Psychology Coaching can help you have a positive shift in how you relate to nutrition and the body you walk in every day.
Our time together promises to give you a greater understanding of how you relate to food while allowing you to learn to treat yourself and your body with unconditional love and respect. This is a wonderful recipe for overall improvement to your health and a chance to feel lighter in relation to the world around you.
- You’re tired of the negative internal monologue in your head regarding your body image and food.
Bullying yourself all day long on the inside does nothing to help you on the outside. In fact, being mean to yourself will forever hold you back from reaching your health goals and feeling at home in your body.
I have been trained specifically to help you re-frame that negative voice into a dialogue that helps you get to where you want to be. I hope you will allow me to share my own journey and the tools I use daily as I help you transform your inner monologue into one that empowers and catapults you to a place of health and well-being.
You CAN BE THE CHANGE you want to see.
