Bursting with flavor and fresh herbs, pesto brightens up any meal. Try drizzling it over veggies, use as a pasta sauce, spread it on pizza or crackers. Not only will pesto give your taste buds a treat, it will provide your body with a myriad of health benefits.

Pesto is an easy to make sauce that can include any combination of herbs you have on hand. It will keep in your refrigerator for two weeks and also freezes well.

In this recipe, cilantro aids in cleaning your body of heavy metal toxin like mercury. Basil is a powerful anti-oxidant and mint can improve digestion.

Enjoy!!!

1⁄2 – 1 lemon
1⁄2 cup extra virgin olive oil 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 cup basil
1 cup cilantro
1 cup mint
1⁄4 cup walnuts, shelled

Add herbs, olive oil, 1⁄2 of the lemon, salt and walnuts to a food processor or blender. Blend well and taste. Adjust with the other half of the lemon, if you wish. Store in an airtight container. It will last longer if the oil covers the herbs – you can add more when storing. Stir well before using.
